Top five end of the world books

Remember that famous episode of The Twilight Zone TV series where Burgess Meredith is happy that the world has ended because he'll have time enough at last to read all of his books and not be bothered by people? And then he ends up breaking his eyeglasses? Even at the end of the world, karma can be a bitch.
If you happen to survive this week's impending 2012 apocalypse, as predicted by the Mayan calendar and/or legions of pseudoscientific nutjobs, be very, very careful with your glasses. In the meantime, here are five apocalyptic books that you should tackle right now, because later on they'll just be too depressing. Plus, once everyone's gone, you can finally read those vampire romance novels without fear of judgment.
