Actor Jason Biggs has defended his wife Jenny Mollen after she came under attack for revealing she once hired a prostitute to partake in a threesome for her husband's birthday in her new book.
The 'Crazy, Stupid, Love.' star opens up about the incident in her novel 'I Like You Just The Way I Am: Stories About Me and Some Other People', and she shared details about the racy tale during an appearance on U.S. talk show 'The View' on Tuesday.
However, she came under fire for the saucy story from more reserved critics, with The View's guest co-host Candace Cameron Bure stating on Wednesday, "How is that a great story? I'm sorry, (but) how is hiring a hooker for your husband's birthday, how is having threesomes, how is that celebrated? I have a hard time finding the humour in that, as a woman who has been married for 18 years."
The comments irked Biggs and now the American Pie actor is fighting back.
During his own appearance on The View on Thursday, he explained, "It was, for us, hilarious and we are very open people, we are real people, we are honest, my wife is amazing and this is not an habitual thing on our part..."
Biggs also defended Mollen against claims that she was embarrassed to discuss the ordeal on the family-friendly daytime talk show because she is a different person in private than she is in public.
He added, "My wife is incredibly real... she was in a circumstance that didn't allow for her to say these things."
The controversy comes days after Biggs slammed the newsmakers at U.S. breakfast show Good Morning America for dedicating a full segment to celebrity "over-sharing" because they felt his baby announcement in February was over the top. The new parents had documented baby Sid's arrival by chronicling every stage from labour to delivery on their Instagram.com accounts.
