Life has begun to imitate art. Or at least life has begun to imitate a music video trying to be art.
Michigan’s Grand Valley State University decided to remove their school landmark, a wrecking ball hanging over a pit of sand, after students began to recklessly jump and pose with it, reenacting the latest Miley Cyrus video for her song, ‘Wrecking Ball.’
Tim Thimmesch, Associate Vice President of Facility Services, said the wrecking ball, which has been hanging on school grounds since 1974, was moved offsite after safety concerns were raised.
“Safety is our main concern,” Thimmesch told FOX News. “We hope the pendulum can be reinstalled at that location or at another suitable location on campus.”
The landmark pendulum has been a large part of the school since it was installed, with some students going as far as to create a Twitter account for it.
Now, students have taken to using the hashtag, ‘#reinstalltheball’ and directing it at the official school's wrecking ball account, ‘@GVSUball.’
Check out the video and let us know if you think students took it too far or if you think it’s just college students being college students.
