Funnyman Seth Rogen has thrown his support behind embattled Toronto Mayor Rob Ford, insisting the Canadian city is very well run, despite the politician's drug-use admission.

Ford became embroiled in a substance abuse scandal last year after confessing to illegal drug use and public drunkenness following the discovery of a video of his antics during a police investigation.

He has fought multiple requests to step down as mayor and fellow Canadian Rogen has publicly sided with Ford, insisting he should be applauded for the changes he has made in Toronto.

The actor says, "He smokes crack a lot. He seems to be open about it... (but) what's weird is you go to Toronto and it's really a beautiful city that is very well run, a lot better than a lot of non-mayor crack-smoking cities I've been to in my life, like Detroit, which is just across the river - and their mayor doesn't smoke crack, but maybe he should.

"You don't associate crack with laziness at all... You don't sleep much, you don't eat much, you get a lot done, you're a busy body on crack."

Rogen only has one concern about Ford's admitted drug use: "Rob Ford's a fat crackhead, which you don't see that often... I don't know how he's doing that, maybe he's eating the crack."
