What do you think of the new GN'R album? Fri, November 21, 2008
It took 17 years for Guns N' Roses to release the album "Chinese Democracy." Question is, what the heck do you think of the new effort? Does it live up to the hype?
Fantastic, well worth the wait. It is a Masterpiece of heavy rock. The production is excellent. Every song has something worth listening to.

Quite simply, a brilliant album. Shows growth and depth, something sorely missing from the laughable Velvet Revolver. This is a worthy work to carry the GNR mantle into the future. There is more harmonic and lyrical shape to this work than its predecessors and I'm very happy to hear that there CAN be such a thing as a more musically mature and broad GNR that is finally functioning in the 21st century.
The guitar solos are brilliant! I wonder if they're a bit too sophisticated for those who prefer Slash's facile and simplistic meanderings. I can say without question, though, this is EASILY the best guitar work on anything which has had the GNR name on it. Sorry to those who prefer McDonald's to steak, but I have to say, in all honesty, Slash can't even begin to compare to Ron Thal.
I hope we don't have to wait so long for the next one!

Nobody cares about the new GNR album, so obviously it sucks. Snap out of the 80s.

This album is at best marginal. After the first 4 tracks the rest of the lbum is very weak. The production on the album is quite good! I cannot understand how Darryl Sterdan gives the Metallica album 5 stars (which I agree is warranted), but the GNR album is not 5 stars in my mind and is really an average Axl Rose solo album.

GOT IT! LOVE IT! AXL STILL HAS IT. EVERYONE NEEDS TO STOP COMPARING 22 YRS AGO TO THE PRESENT. WHAT WERE YA'LL DOING 22 YRS AGO!! I THINK CHINESE DEMOCRACY IS A BRILLIANT MASTERPIECE. THANK YOU AXL AND GN'R !!!!

Listened to it stream in full off their MySpace page. It's good; could've been a letdown but it's not. However it's not worth a 13+ year wait, maybe a 2-3 year one if it came out back in the '90s when another GN'R followup was expected. Not sure if this is worth buying - now needs time for tunes to sink in.

After seeing him 2 years ago and hearing the new songs, I also like the old G N R. He can't wail like he used to but he is no less a showman.

It's just not what you would expect. It doesn't sound like GnR. It doesn't sound like Axl. It does after awhile, I suppose, but it's just... I dunno... It will take some getting used to. I think Axl should try and make up with the old band. This one is just not the old GnR. The guitar solos are better, as I do not think Slash was that great, but then again, you learned to appreciate Slash's less polished sound. The old band had a more 'top 40' pop sound to it, and this is just the opposite. There is no 'sweet child' on this album. It reminds me of the heavier sound Def Leppard went for with their 'Sparkle' album.

Clearly the best rock album in over ten years. If you do not like it go back to listin to the Foo Fighters System of the Down and all that other junk we have been spoon fed.
