QMI's Darryl Sterdan thinks Taylor is anything but Swift when it comes to live vocal chops. He's got a full list of popular artists like Madonna, Nickelback's Chad Kroeger and the Chili Peppers' Anthony Kiedis who he thinks lack in the singing department.
Do you agree him, or do you think he's full of crap? Who would YOU pick as the worst singer?
I cannot believe Katy Perry and Heidi Montag aren't on this list. They are, to put it mildly, crap. But the title of worst singer clearly belongs to the drunk, heavily autotuned Ke$ha. Taylor Swift isn't the best singer by any means, but she's all right. Hey, at least she can write fairly good melodies, unlike Ke$ha's "wake up in the mornin' feelin' like P. Diddy".
On another note...you think Janis Joplin and Billie Holiday can't sing???!!! ARE YOU HIGH??!

Finally someone has said what so many think! Taylor Swift cannot hold a note, and stays within about five chords because that is all she can play. People love her because she looks cute and they have no other REAL true role models. If anyone had a real ear for music they would now she is nothing but a show, and not a truly gifted singer. Have to change the station/tv anytime she shows up. Please keep reporting the truth! She sucks!!!!

why has no one mentioned that plastic sl*t heidi of the hills yet. the fact that she refuses to let anyone hear her sing live must make her a contender. the crap lip-sync at miss universe should be more than enough for everyone in this universe to agree her never to be allowed near a live microphone and permanently top of the list.

@zatan130: Katy Perry, Hayley Williams and Shakira cannot sing live. Even Taylor Swift, Britney Spears and Miley Cyrus are better.
Chad Kroeger, James Hetfield, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen and Axel Rose are also very bad singers. And yes, Kurt Kobain was one of the worst singers ever.

Okay, I'm happy you at least made a shout out to the fact that sometimes personality can go a long way but you're also forgetting that sometimes all the technical vocal prowess in the world can't save you from being considered good. Mariah Carey is one of the most pitch-perfect singers in pop music today and the woman can't make an interesting record to save her life. Likewise, she, Christina Aguilera and Beyonce all have a tendency of going all melismatic on a song just to show off that they can and they completely forget that sometimes you just have to CONVEY the emotion with a voice...something these three ladies have all struggled with. And they're considered the best.
Now take Madonna. Have you ever heard her sing "Crazy For You?" At one point and time Madonna had a hunger in her voice that made it a million times bigger than it actually was. Britney is not the most gifted singer live, no...but she does have an interesting voice that has set her apart. And all you have to do is YouTube videos of her that actually show her singing live (sitting still, of course) and, suprise...the girl can actually carry a tune quite well.
Ultimately though, it all comes down to whether or not the artist can convey emotion in their voice...some of the people you mentioned are not technically the best but they have a lot more going for them than some of the ones that would be on the short list for best vocalist.

People used to be able to sing live, no matter what. Competion was tough and only the good survived. Now everyone accepts the mediocrity that is forced fed by the media who constantly tell us who is talented. And if you don't agree you are called a "Hater". Call me "Hater" then because I will make up my own mind and nothing will make me change my mind about the above mentioned people.
