Chely Wright stars in new doc

Gay country star Chely Wright is to take fans behind her emotional decision to come out as a lesbian in an upcoming documentary, in which she confesses she once contemplated suicide over her sexuality.

The Shut Up and Drive hitmaker, who once dated singer Brad Paisley, logged three years-worth of home movies and video diaries for Wish Me Away - a film which follows her on a personal journey to self-discovery.

The raw footage, which offers an intimate glimpse into the singer's life, captures Wright at some of her lowest moments and in a promotional clip from the movie she talks directly into a video camera about her most desperate thoughts, stating, "I have a gun, I own a gun, and I looked at it and I put the gun in my mouth."

The rest of the project centres around Wright's May, 2010, big reveal and features the singer explaining her new sexual orientation to relatives, friends, fans and her pastor.
