Kate Nauta would like people to know it is all movie magic: She is nothing like Lola, the lingerie-clad assassin she plays in Transporter 2.
But it doesn't matter where she is, from the runway to the big screen, the 23-year-old Nauta knows how to turn heads.
SUN: Are you a tough girl in real life?
NAUTA: No. I'm a real girly girl and, as a model, I never did any lingerie shoots. They never booked me for lingerie because I have such small breasts.
SUN: Transporter 2 had a three-day opening weekend gross of $20 million US. Has this helped your career at all?
NAUTA: I can hardly believe the repercussions of this movie. I've already been booked for a shoot for the Italian male Vogue magazine, and my agents are in negotiations for a Lacoste perfume commercial.
SUN: Did you intend all along to use modelling as a springboard into the field of acting?
NAUTA: No, not at all. I just received a call from Louis Leterrier (director of Transporter 2) out of the blue. He said he'd seen my photo and knew I was his Lola.
SUN: Did you accept right away?
NAUTA: I told him I'd never acted before, but he said that didn't matter. I had the look and there were people who could do the rest.
SUN: Did you already know how to handle a gun?
NAUTA: No. I went down to Miami a month before shooting began. I had to work with an FBI agent who taught me to use the guns, and I had to take classes in martial arts. It was very intensive.
SUN: Did Jason Statham (who plays the lead in Transporter 2) help you with the fighting scenes at all?
NAUTA: Jason was very encouraging. I did most of my scenes with him. He gave me the confidence to do this.
SUN: What's next?
NAUTA: I want to do something completely different. I'd like to play a preppy school girl or something like that. A comedy would be really great.
