Action star Vin Diesel ("XXX") will tap into his sentimental side to star in the romantic comedy "Player's Rules," Variety reports.

Writer Ron Bass, best known for penning the romantic comedies "My Best Friend's Wedding" and "How Stella Got Her Groove Back," will write the film, which is being described as a "unique take in the ongoing war between men and women."

Diesel is also hoping to direct the period drama "Hannibal," and will star as a 3rd century B.C. Carthaginian general who rode an elephant across the Alps with 100,000 troops to attack Rome.
