From the strange but true files, Britney Spears may play the Virgin Mary in a new film.
US magazine reports that the 26-year-old train wreck is considering the role in upcoming movie "Sweet Baby Jesus," a satirical retelling of the nativity story.
Her potential character Mary is a pregnant 19-year-old unsure of her baby's paternity, who goes into labour on Christmas Eve in Bethlehem, Maryland, as rumours swirl that the birth is Jesus Christ's second coming.
"I had to convince my partners because they were like, 'Oh, no. Britney?'" the film's French producer, Philippe Rebboah, told the mag. "But I thought it was brilliant. It's a bit ironic that she would play the Virgin Mary, no?"
Philippe also said Spears is reviewing the script and will make a decision soon. The film is set to shoot in March.
"She likes the idea, that's what I heard," Philippe said.
