Jackie Chan may soon be teaching the unstoppable Crane kick.
Sources say that if the deal is finalized, Chan would be playing the Mr. Miyagi role to Jaden Smith, son of Chan's fellow action star Will Smith. The original "Karate Kid", released in 1984, followed young Daniel-san (Ralph Macchio) and his quest to defeat a group of martial arts bullies while under the tutelage of Mr. Miyagi ( Pat Morita).
The movie would begin filming later this year. No release date has been set.
Chan starred with Jet Li in last year's "The Forbidden Kingdom." Smith, 10, was last seen alongside Keanu Reeves and Jennifer Connelly in the 2008 remake of "The Day the Earth Stood Still."
