TORONTO - Fan Expo Canada has become a monster event. And we're not just referring to the appearance by The Incredible Hulk, Lou Ferrigno.
An umbrella event for the various "fan-boy" genres -- Sci-Fi, Comics/Graphic Novels, Horror, Anime and Gaming -- the Fan Expo takes over the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, South Building from tomorrow to Sunday with a characteristically massive guest list.
From the sci-fi world, that includes Leonard Nimoy and Walter Koenig from classic Star Trek, Terminator's Linda Hamilton, Billy Dee Williams from Star Wars, Mary McDonnell from Battlestar Galactica, Robert Duncan McNeill from Star Trek Voyager, Avery Brooks from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, James Kyson Lee from Heroes, and for some reason, Tony Curtis (well, he kind of does live on another planet).
Evil Dead trilogy star Bruce Campbell is among the horror celebs along with B-movie king Roger Corman, Udo Keir, hands-on FX/makeup king Tom Savini and Troma's Lloyd Kaufman, whose Toxic Avenger musical is Toronto-bound.
Marvel editor-in-chief Joe Quesada tops a Comic Book appearance list that includes artists from Wolverine, X-Men, Thor, Fantastic Four and Babylon-creator-turned-comic-writer J. Michael Straczynski.
Among anime guests: voice-talent from Dragonball Z, Ghost in the Shell, Digimon and more.
Meanwhile, artists, creators and voice talent from games like Halo and various game publishers will be onhand for a hands-on, tournament-filled Gaming Expo.
On the floor -- between autograph sessions, Q&As and workshops -- more than 600 vendors will be hawking millions of dollars in "collectibles."
Just remember. Never, EVER remove the action figures from the packaging.
