Tuesdays will once again be known as cheap date night at the movies.
Beginning Sept. 15, Cineplex theatres across Canada are slashing their ticket prices in half with a movie combo that includes a movie, regular popcorn and regular fountain drink for half price.
But this permanent sale isn't to draw in crowds swayed towards staying in because of the recession, the movie chain says.
"As an industry and a company, Cineplex has had a record year of attendance," said Pat Marshall, spokesman for Cineplex Entertainment. "This is a way for us to give back to our customers."
Cineplex is working with Telus in this promotion.
Prices vary from theatre to theatre, Marshall said yesterday.
The big movie plexes aren't the only theatres offering cheap tickets on Tuesday.
Rainbow Cinemas -- which operates the Market Square location on Front St. E. -- offers its Tuesday screenings for $4 for all ages and showtimes.
