TORONTO - A romantic drama that snagged the top Canadian prize at this year's Toronto International Film festival has nabbed a distribution deal in the United States.
"Cairo Time" has been picked up by IFC Films after scoring the title of best Canadian feature with its debut at the Toronto fest last month.
It's slated to hit U.S. theatres next year and will also be released through IFC's on-demand television service.
The film stars Patricia Clarkson as a woman visiting her husband in Cairo and Alexander Siddig as her husband's friend.
The pair strike up an unexpected love affair while touring the ancient city's bustling streets.
"Cairo Time," written and directed by Toronto filmmaker Ruba Nadda, was released in Canada earlier this month.
