Director Kenny Ortega says there has been positive feedback from Jackson family members who have seen Michael Jackson’s This Is It.

Ortega even has heard that some might go on the road with some kind of tribute show to Michael Jackson, although so far Ortega is not involved.

“I’m open to being called upon,” said Ortega, whose credits include directing all three High School Musical movies.

In the meantime, Ortega said he hopes to be able to spend time with his family, animals and charities in the weeks leading up to Christmas.

Despite reports that he will direct a remake of Footloose, with Chace Crawford of Gossip Girl fame taking over the Kevin Bacon role, Ortega wouldn’t confirm it’s imminent.

“Footloose has been a project that I’ve been developing for some time. And it’s definitely out there, and there’s a possibility that that might be coming in the future ... We’ll see.”
