Man dies during 'Avatar' screening
By WENN.COM
James Cameron's 3D movie blockbuster Avatar has come under the spotlight again - it has been blamed for the death of a cinema-goer in Taiwan. The unnamed 42 year old fell ill during a screening of the spectacular epic in the city of Hsinchu, and died eleven days later in hospital. Doctors have determined he suffered a stroke, most likely caused by over-excitement, reports London's Metro newspaper. An emergency room medic says, "It's likely that the over-excitement from watching the movie triggered his symptoms." The Oscar-tipped film has captivated movie-goers around the globe, quickly becoming the second most successful film of all time, behind Cameron's 1997 epic Titanic. But its release has also attracted criticism, particularly in U.S., where the right wing has attacked its anti-miltary storyline, and the Vatican, where Catholic leaders accuse the film of promoting the worship of nature. |
