NEW YORK — Hollywood’s a piece of cake compared to dealing with corporate America.
So says Cop Out director Kevin Smith, still angry after his ordeal of being ejected from a Southwest Airlines flight, supposedly because of his large size, earlier this month.
“Corporate America (is) worse (than Hollywood),” Smith told reporters over the weekend, where he was promoting his Bruce Willis-Tracy Morgan buddy cop comedy that opens in theatres on Friday. “I haven’t dealt with them in a while and they’re f---ing snakes.”
Smith also took aim at some of the media coverage too, which has been almost unbearable at times, he said.
“It sucked for two days, topic of the news — fat, fat, fat, fat. If I had a less f---ing ego, I’d have been crushed and put a gun in my mouth. I am not f---ing kidding. Entertainment Tonight, these f---ing pricks, put a f---ing thin chick in a (fat) suit, and have her go walk on an airplane and s--- like that. Then the next day, they got some doctor on, some quack, trying to guess my weight, like a f---ing carnival. Ladies and gentlemen, do it as much as you want but also tell the story. It’s not about a f---ing fat dude. It’s about a company that f---ed over a customer. Nobody wants to tell that story because it’s way funnier to be like, ‘Fat guy in a little plane.’”
Smith, for one, hopes the truth comes out and the story ends soon.
“I hope so,” he said describing the last week as "pretty weird and s----y."
“The fact of the matter is I’m not too fat to fly on Southwest Airlines. They lied. I didn’t get bounced for fat. I got bounced because some f---er didn’t like me. They still won’t tell me (who). They just say an employee made a decision. If you weigh 200 pounds or more, I wouldn’t go anywhere near Southest Airlines because nobody’s in charge.”
Southwest has issued two apologies since Smith went public about the incident.
“After this, I might buy a helicopter, (put it) on the roof of my house with a very big seat, with a very wide arm rest,” joked Smith.
