TORONTO - Jennifer Matton drove eight hours non-stop from Philadelphia to Toronto to get closure on Corey Haim's death.
Proclaiming herself as the '80s actor's "No. 1 fan," Matton, 35, said the desire to be part of the private funeral pushed her to make the 800-km trip -- even if it meant watching from the sidewalk.
"He was my first crush," she said. "I've been a fan since I was 13 and when I heard about (his death), it was very upsetting. I decided to drive here. It was kind of like closure."
Matton said she didn't attempt to go inside the funeral home in order to respect the family's wishes for privacy.
"I figured if I could just get a glimpse, that would be enough," she said. "I've never attempted to do anything like this in my life. This is my way of being near him -- even though he's now gone -- and express how much I cared and how many other fans cared about him. I've never met him and I'm so devastated I didn't," she said.
