Yeah, there are plenty of "those" films in that room at the back of the video store (oh yeah, I forgot, there ARE no more video stores).
But on the occasion of Steven Soderbergh's Magic Mike - based on star Channing Tatum's real-life experiences as a male stripper - we're here today talking up ostensibly serious movies ABOUT the taking-it-all-off lifestyle.
Here's a rundown of some memorable and/or infamous peeler pix.
And we'll add a special Trenchcoat Award to Robert Rodriguez, who created stripper roles for three actresses in three movies (Salma Hayek in From Dusk 'Til Dawn, Rose McGowan in Grindhouse and Jessica Alba in Sin City).
1. The Full Monty
Probably the only other movie about male strippers you can think of. Peter Cattaneo's 1997 Britcom - about six not-particularly-buff laid-off steelworkers who decide to go for it onstage - was an unlikely charmer and a worldwide film phenomenon.
Combine the lurid writing of Joe Eszterhas, the sledgehammer directing of Paul Verhoeven and the good-girl-gone-badness of Saved By The Bell's Elizabeth Berkley, and you have one of the campiest, sleaziest mainstream movies ever made.
Trust Atom Egoyan to get all cerebral about sex. This Canadian film cast Bruce Greenwood as a strip club patron whose "thing" was to watch Mia Kirshner's character perform in a schoolgirl costume. It's all a metaphor for existential angst, and the multi-purposeness of fire-poles.
Otherwise known as You-Wanna-See-What-A-Personal-Trainer-Can-Do-For-A-Mid-30s-Mom? Demi Moore's muscles starred in this terrible film about a single-mom/stripper who gets into trouble when a congressman (Burt Reynolds) takes a shine to her.
5. Barb Wire
So many bad Pamela Anderson performances to choose from, so little space. In this one, she's a stripper who moonlights as a mercenary/killing machine. As a badass, she doesn't hold a candle to"¦
6. Grindhouse/Planet Terror
Of all Robert Rodriguez' various stripper characters, none is more memorable than Rose McGowan as a stripper who loses a leg, straps an assault weapon to her stump and wreaks havoc as if it were another day at the office.
Would you believe an Oscar nom on this list (in a movie inspired by Mozart's Cosi Fan Tutte no less)? Natalie Portman got a Golden Globe and an Oscar nom for playing an American stripper whose life is exploited by the unfaithful British author she's been seeing (Jude Law). Other stuff happens, but the important part is that Natalie Portman plays a stripper.
8. I Know Who Killed Me
A more important question for Lindsay Lohan is, does she know who killed her career? In this 2007 stinker, she plays twins, one of whom is a stripper with amnesia, trying to figure out why a serial killer is after her. Amnesia! What were we talking about again?
