Actress Kate Beckinsale refuses to bare all for a film because she doesn't want to embarrass her teenage daughter.

Beckinsale, the daughter of actor Richard Beckinsale and actress Judy Loe, was mortified when her mum stripped off for a TV role in U.K. series Singles - because she was constantly harassed by her classmates. And she doesn't want her own daughter to have to go through the same humiliation.

She tells America's Allure magazine, "It was a TV thing, and there was a full-frontal nude scene. I had to beat a few kids up the next day. They'd come by and say, 'We've seen your mother naked!' It was more slapping and fingernails. But it did the job."

And the Van Helsing star insists she will never put her 13-year-old Lily in the same situation.

She says, "I haven't done an awful lot of nude scenes. And I've been somebody who has had a child for a very long time. Most of my peers don't have a 13-year-old. And it's embarrassing."

Beckinsale also has to watch what she says in TV interviews too: "My daughter said to me, 'You know, I'd really love it if you never said the word 'vagina' in an interview again.'"
