Thirty-six per cent of Americans want George Clooney to run for political office, according to a major new poll.
The movie star, who has hosted two recent political fundraisers for U.S. President Barack Obama, has been named the celebrity most people would like to vote for in the new Parade/omg.com survey. Oprah Winfrey, another big Obama booster, came in second with 27 per cent, while Clooney's Ocean's Eleven co-star Matt Damon came in third with 12 per cent.
The end-of-summer poll - compiled from the votes of 56,000 Parade readers and omg.com users - also named Whitney Houston's death as the Biggest OMG Headline in the First Half of 2012, while 42 per cent of voters can't wait for Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux's nuptials - over The Amazing Spider-Man co-stars Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield's.
And voters picked Ryan Gosling (35 per cent) and Aniston (29 per cent) as the Sexiest Man and Sexiest Woman in Hollywood, ahead of Channing Tatum and Aniston's ex-husband Brad Pitt, and newlywed Blake Lively and Angelina Jolie.
