"Thor" star Jaimie Alexander has been forced to sit out of production on the movie's sequel for a few days after suffering a "horrible injury" in London.

The actress, who plays Lady Sif in the film franchise, took to Twitter.com on Tuesday to tell fans she had injured her leg and was in hospital, but didn't go into details.

She wrote, "I sustained a pretty horrible injury. I'm lucky I'm not paralyzed. Thank you (with all of my heart) to those who've looked after me."

Alexander later added, "Already in recovery mode and my spirits are high. I'll be back kicking a** as Lady Sif in no time! It can only get better from here on out!

"Meds (medication) are kicking in. Awesome funny nurses here at the hospital. Physio tomorrow. All good."
