Bad News Bears star Sammi Kane Kraft has died in Los Angeles after a car accident in the early hours of Tuesday.

The 20-year-old real-life athlete, who landed her role in the 2005 remake due to her baseball skills, was a passenger in an Audi that was rear-ended by a truck on the 10 Freeway, and then struck by another vehicle.

Kraft was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where doctors pronounced her dead.

The driver, Molly Kate Adams, received treatment for moderate injuries, and was arrested on suspicion of felony drunk driving.

In Billy Bob Thornton's Bad News Bears reboot, Kraft played Amanda Whurlitzer, the tomboy role made famous by Tatum O'Neal in the 1976 original film.
