Lindsay Lohan's father has spoken out about his daughter's arrest in New York on Thursday, calling the incident "really sad" and insisting the actress is in a "dark place".
The Mean Girls star was detained by cops outside Manhattan's Club Avenue in the early hours of Thursday morning after she was accused of punching a woman inside the venue.
She was booked on a third-degree misdemeanour assault charge and released several hours later.
Her father Michael has now spoken out about his daughter's arrest, insisting he has been worried for her over the last two weeks and had hoped his ex-wife Dina would help him to talk to their daughter.
He tells Etonline.com, "I told you exactly what would happen and was trying to get Dina on board with me for a long time but especially the last two weeks... It's really sad... She (Lindsay) is in a dark place, it's in God's hands and I hope He deals with her appropriately...
"(She is) acting out in numerous ways because she needs us (her parents) and internally she's hurt and angry."
