1. THE DARK KNIGHT RISES: I cannot shake it. The Dark Knight Rises smashed itself into my brain. The film may be genre, but it is also the best of 2012.Christopher Nolan finished off his Batman trilogy with a brilliant flourish. The Dark Knight Rises is not just a comic book flick for geeks. It is a sophisticated, intelligence, beautifully crafted drama that is bursting with life and yet dares to state intently into the darkest recesses of its flawed hero’s psyche. Plus, the Nolan brothers and their collaborator, David S. Goyer, infused Bob Kane’s 1939 creation with other historical and literary references, including Charles Dickens’ take on the French Revolution. This comic book film refuses to dumb it all down.
