Something old, something new and plenty of borrowed stuff: 2013 will be a typical year for Hollywood movies. But, from among the dozens of titles to be released this coming year, these 10 have a unique story to tell, on-screen or off:
MAN OF STEEL (June 14)
Re-booting the Superman saga has been problematic, compared to rival superheroes. Too good for his own good, he is not a great movie character. And his alter ego, Clark Kent, is a super-geek. So it will be fascinating to see how director Zack Snyder (300, The Watchmen) transforms the Superman universe and toughens him up. Russell Crowe plays Jor-El, Superman's biological father. Amy Adams is Lois Lane, more clever casting. England's Henry Cavill (Charles Brandon in The Tudors) plays the adult Superdude. Turning 30 just five weeks before the film premieres, Cavill is entering his prime. Sequels, anyone?
