Russell Crowe defends singing in Les Miserables after Adm Lambertís Twitter rant Russell Crowe has defended his new movie Les Miserables after Adam Lambert slammed the filmís all-star cast for ďpretending to be singers,Ē insisting director Tom Hooper wanted the musical scenes to be ďraw and realĒ. The former American Idol star, who began his career in musical theatre, shared his disappointment with the big-screen adaptation of the hit Broadway production with his followers over the festive season. In a series of posts, he wrote, ďLes Mis: Visually impressive w (with) great emotional performances. But the score suffered massively with great actors PRETENDING to be singers... itís an opera. Hollywoodís movie musicals treat the singing as the last priority.Ē Crowe, who stars as a police inspector in the movie, was told of the rant by one of his own Twitter followers, and wrote a post in response. He stated, ďI donít disagree with Adam, sure it could have been sweetened, Hooper wanted it raw and real, thatís how it is.Ē
