LOS ANGELES -- If you've been thinking you haven't seen much of Catherine Zeta-Jones lately (unless you happened to catch her Tony-winning turn in Broadway's A Little Night Music a few years back), you'd be correct.
Between helping nurse husband Michael Douglas back to health after he was diagnosed with throat cancer and raising their two kids, she had been more than content to stay close to home.
But when director Steven Soderbergh called offering her a pivotal role in Side Effects, a twisty psychological thriller very much in the Fatal Attraction/Basic Instinct tradition, she didn't have to take too long to answer.
"I love my career but I find it really hard to leave my children and to think that I'm not going to get these beautiful, formative, delicious years back," reflects Zeta-Jones. "So this had all the elements that got me straight on a plane the moment that Steven asked me to do this."
