She may have earned a pair of Oscar nominations for her ability to more than hold her own against the likes of Meryl Streep (in Doubt) and Sissy Spacek (in The Help), but that doesn't mean Viola Davis never gets star struck.
Playing the part of Amma, a maternal librarian with a secret connection to the spirit world in the Southern gothic romance, Beautiful Creatures, the South Carolina-born Davis admits to have been a little nervous about her scenes with the famously intense Jeremy Irons
"I had the same feeling about working with him that I had about Meryl Streep," says Davis, 47. "I felt like, 'Oh my God, I'm going to be working with Meryl Streep. She's going to be telling all these stories about how she put together the character in Sophie's Choice and she's going to be speaking in a really grand voice. And it's going to be all about her, but I don't care because I love her."
The seasoned stage veteran pauses a moment for dramatic effect.
