Think the creepy thriller, Dark Skies, doesn't seem like a typical project for Keri Russell?
She's just as surprised as you are.
"It's not a genre I've really sought out in my career, or have even really followed that much," says Russell, 36, who's best-known for her work in TV's Felicity.
"But I read the script and instantly went, 'That'll work!' To me, it was the story of a family drama first, done with taste and restraint and more suggestion than anything else. It's kind of fun, isn't it?"
Big fun. Dark Skies is a terrific thriller about children in peril and strange events in the midst of ordinary suburban life.
Russell and Josh Hamilton play the parents of a mildly rebellious teen (Canada's Dakota Goyo) and a younger son who appears to have made contact with ... something. J.K. Simmons is also in the cast, always a good sign.
