PASADENA, Calif. -- For Rachel Weisz, playing a wicked witch in Oz The Great and Powerful held a personal attraction beyond flying around on wires and being the ultimate bad girl: The fabulous frocks.
"It's a first for me," confirms Weisz, regarding the fantastical fashions favoured by Evanora, the seductive sorceress who rules over Emerald City with an insatiable thirst for power.
"I've never done a film where my costume was as important as it was in this one. I feel like I've mainly been in jeans and T-shirts with a scrubbed face."
That previous, more casual look has certainly served 42-year-old Weisz well in movies like The Constant Gardner, for which she won a best supporting actress Oscar, but she relished the opportunity to get all dolled up for something other than walking the red carpet.
