LAS VEGAS -- Steve Carell exudes niceness. So he takes pains to deny he's either impersonating or making fun of magician David Copperfield in his new comedy The Incredible Burt Wonderstone.
Well sure, Burt (with second banana Anton Marvelton -- played by Steve Buscemi) has been a Vegas mainstay for decades. In his shtick he tends toward bringing ladies up from the audience. And he has an enormous collection of pictures of himself.
"It really wasn't him," Carell says, diplomatically. "From my perspective, it's a conglomeration of many people and types. It's all of them and none of them."
