In the end, the Oscar pizza guy got his tip -- and it was huge.
Edgar Martirosyan, co-owner of Los Angeles pizza parlour Big Mama’s & Papa’s, appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Monday to talk about his surprise visit to the Oscars.
He claims he was told he was going to deliver pizza to some Hollywood writers and was shocked when DeGeneres led him to the stage, and into the star-studded audience where he handed out slices to A-listers, including his favourite, Julia Roberts. Later on in the big show, Ellen went around the aisles collecting a tip for Edgar, using Pharrell Williams' famous hat.
No one knew where the money went -- until now.
DeGeneres wrapped up her interview on her show by handing him $600, then topped it up with $400 of her own, for a grand total of $1,000.
The most famous pizza man in the world is a little heavier in the wallet, and it's turned into big business for his work.
Since his appearance, the 20-location chain now has the phone ringing off the hook.
"All of our locations are crazy busy right now," owner Ararat Agakhanyan told the Los Angeles Times. "We had no idea that our pizzas were going to be on TV. We're ordering supplies like mad, stocking up on cheese, pepperoni, sausage and boxes and shipping them out to the different stores."
