Actor Zac Efron is set to graduate from high school to Yale University as Shia LaBeouf's replacement in a big-screen adaptation of crime author John Grisham's, The Associate.

LaBeouf was originally attached to star in the film when it originated at Paramount in 2009, shortly after the book was released, but he has since dropped out, leaving the High School Musical star to take his place.

Efron will play a Yale Law School student who finds himself the target of blackmail.

The young star will also produce the Grisham adaptation via his Ninja's Runnin Wild company.
