How does that classic "Goonies" line go, again? Oh yes, that's right: "Goonies never say die!"
That quote has never been more true, as the "Goonies" director Richard Donner revealed that the long-anticipated sequel to the 1986 beloved film is in the works.
Donner told TMZ that he plans to bring back the entire original cast for the sequel. When the site asked him if he was going to make another comic book movie, Donner replied, "If you call 'Goonies' a comic book. We're doing a sequel."
That was the sound of every "Goonies" fan's brain exploding.
This isn't the first time there was talk of a "Goonies" sequel. One of the original film's stars Sean Astin told IGN while promoting "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" last year that a sequel would definitely be shot. "It will happen," Astin said. "I'm 1000 percent certain there will be a sequel. I will bet my children on it."
No word yet on whether or not the sequel would star the original cast of Astin, Corey Feldman, Josh Brolin, Jeff Cohen and Martha Plimpton or whether they would just appear in cameo roles as the original adventure comedy featured them as kids 28 years ago. Either way, the sequel should be as epic as the original.
