This is it. After months of speculation, the cast for Star Wars: Episode VII has been officially announced.

As expected original trilogy stars Harrison Ford (Han Solo), Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia) and Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) will be back. They’ll be joined by Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca) and Kenny Baker (R2-D2).

John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow are also joining the cast. Girls star Driver has been rumoured to be playing the villain in the new film.

The announcement was made on the official Star Wars website.

"We are so excited to finally share the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII. It is both thrilling and surreal to watch the beloved original cast and these brilliant new performers come together to bring this world to life, once again,” director J.J. Abrams said in a statement. “We start shooting in a couple of weeks, and everyone is doing their best to make the fans proud."

According to Deadline, “Ford has a gigantic role in the first of the next three films.”

Star Wars: Episode VII opens Dec. 18, 2015.
