Marvel fans who’ve gotten used to sitting through all 3,000 names on the credits in expectation of a hidden “Easter egg” scene, may be disappointed in The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

There are no such scenes anywhere in the credits of that movie. By comparison, there were two Easter Eggs (the Quicksilver/Scarlet Witch scene and Bucky in the museum) in Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

However, those who look for Marvel canon hints as if they were Illuminati clues in the DaVinci Code, are already breaking down The Amazing Spider-Man 2 for portents.

Specifically, there appear to be plenty of visual references to the Sinister Six, Sony’s all-villain Spider-Man spinoff which is scheduled to go into production early in 2015 with director Drew Goddard (The Cabin In The Woods).

In TASM2, Harry Osborn is in the "special projects" wing of Oscorp, he walks by glass enclosures that contain proto-type costumes for Doctor Octopus and The Vulture. Rhino (Paul Giamatti) appears in a fight sequence in the film.

And then comes the real sneaky reveal. When the credits roll, instead of looking at the Foley Mixer’s name and trying to figure out if he’s a third cousin, look behind the text at the blueprints that float around like a screensaver. Detail-savvy genre fans have spotted Mysterio’s mask and Kraven the Hunter’s spear, among other accoutrements of evil.

There’s also the so-far shadowy character of Gustav Fiers, who visited Curt Connors – a.k.a. The Lizard – in prison in a mid-credits scene in The Amazing Spider-Man, and appears in a closing scene in TASM2. In one of the comics, Fiers orchestrated a mass assault on New York by the Sinister Six.

Sony has yet to officially announce the villains it plans to use in the film or if Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man will appear.

For the record, the Sinister Six as depicted in the Marvel comics were Doctor Octopus, Electro, Vulture, Kraven the Hunter, Sandman and Mysterio.

As for Electro, who’s played by Jamie Foxx in TASM2, his return may have been foretold by Foxx himself, who admitted nothing, but told us, “Electricity never dies, baby.”
