Supposed leaks originating from Pinewood Studios outline the roles of Lupita Nyong'o and Adam Driver, fleshing out how they affect the balance of the force in "Star Wars Episode VII" and beyond, with one more actor named.
British actor David Oyelowo is the latest name to be connected with the new "Star Wars" trilogy, having appeared in "Lincoln," "Rise of the Planet of the Apes," "The Paperboy" and Lucasfilm's "Red Tails."
He's to side with characters portrayed by Nyong'o and Driver, said to form part of a new faction whose influence will be felt in episodes VII through to IX.
That's all according to the MakingStarWars site, which introduces its studio-sourced snippets with an up-front caveat: "This is simply what we are hearing from people that have proven to us [they] are from Pinewood," adding, "it could be accurate or inaccurate."
Nevertheless, the rumoured antagonist group is known as the Jedi Hunters. Its members wear black, wield lightsabers, and are occupied with protecting and restoring the Sith Lords to power, and have been fighting Luke Skywalker since the end of "Episode VI," says the site.
What's the immediate goal of the Jedi Hunters? Bring back the Sith in "Episode VIII" and cause a critical confrontation with the Jedi in "Episode IX" is the talk.
Another enthusiast-run site, TheForce.Net, chipped in with a comparison of audio recordings from upcoming cartoon series "Star Wars Rebels" and concluded that Oyelowo would play an Imperial Agent named Kallus.
That puts Oyelowo in position to form a bridge between the fall 2014 TV spin-off and December 2015's "Star Wars Episode VII."
As TFN points out, Oyelowo was part of the original rumoured cast of "Star Wars Rebels" as surfaced by The Hollywood Reporter in September 2013. "All of them were subsequently announced as leads in the series -- except, of course, Oyelowo. THR's reporting was obviously solid there, and I have every confidence that Oyelowo, too, will be in the series."
