Video director Hype Williams says he wants to complete work on the video he was shooting with Aaliyah just hours before she died in a plane crash in the Bahamas.
MTV reports Williams (who has worked with Busta Rhymes, Notorious B.I.G. and others) wants Aaliyah's fans to see the footage he shot of the singer for the song "Rock The Boat."
"Those four days were very beautiful for everyone. We all worked together as a family," Williams told MTV.
"The last day, Saturday, was one of the best I've had in this business. Everyone felt part of something special, part of her song."
Williams and Aaliyah began work on the video last Wednesday and flew to the Bahamas Thursday, where Williams filmed the singer performing the song against an ocean backdrop. The singer's family will have a final say in whether the clip gets completed with existing footage, but Williams told MTV he hopes they will give him the okay to finish the project.
"I know there's a lot of pain involved, but that's all the more reason people would appreciate what we've done as a group," Williams said.
Aaliyah had earlier completed work on another unreleased video, for the song "More Than a Woman." That piece was scheduled to be edited Monday, although the fate of that video was still up in the air, MTV said.
