Kirk and Spock have a new star-date.
The sequel to last summer’s Star Trek will launch June 29, 2012, Paramount has announced.
That puts this Star Trek 2 — as opposed to the 1982 one — just ahead of the always-lucrative July 4 weekend.
No one knows what the plot will be about — “KHHHAAAAAN!” anyone? — but screenwriters Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, who penned the original, are working on the script with Lost co-creator Damon Lindelof. J.J. Abrams is again producing, but has yet to confirm he will direct the follow-up.
Star Trek beamed up $385 million worldwide and made a star of new Capt. Kirk Chris Pine, who has also signed to follow Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford and Ben Affleck as CIA analyst Jack Ryan in a new Tom Clancy techno-thriller.
