Jessica Alba ("Sin City") and Alessandro Nivola ("Grace is Gone") have joined the cast of "The Eye," Variety.com reports.

The pair join Parker Posey ("Superman Returns") on the project, which is a remake of the Hong Kong thriller of the same name.

Tom Cruise and partner Paula Wagner are producing the film.

The original movie centres on a cornea transplant recipient who sees disturbing images in the mirror, which lead her on a quest to find out what happened to the eye's previous owner.

The long-gestating remake previously had Renee Zellweger attached, but she dropped out for unknown reasons back in 2002, after the redo rights were bought by Paramount.
