The Atari video game "Driver" is being adapted for the big screen, Variety reports.

Roger Avary will write and direct the film that will centre on a getaway driver for hire, the best in the heist biz, who is put to the test on a job.

Avary has experience helming video game adaptations. He also wrote and directed the recently released film, "Silent Hill" which is based on the Sony Playstation game.
