Drew Barrymore is set to follow the yellow brick road in a sequel to the 1939 classic film, "The Wizard of Oz."

Barrymore will fill Judy Garland's former red slippers as Dorothy in Warner Brother's "Surrender Dorothy," according to Variety.

The 27-year-old Barrymore will play a modern version of the heroine.

Producer Robert Kosberg has been developing the project with Barrymore since 1999.

The plot, set in the modern world, will be based on the idea that the Wicked Witch didn't die in the first movie.

No shooting date has been set for the film.
