Billy Bob Thornton and Halle Berry will reunite for the film "Tulia."

Variety.com reports the plot centres on a UCLA lawyer determined to expose a series of racially motivated drug charges in Texas. The film is an adaptation of Nate Blakeslee's novel "Tulia: Race, Cocaine and Corruption in a Small Texas Town."

Carl Franklin ("Out of Time") rewrote Karen Croner's ("One True Thing") screenplay and will direct.

Shooting is set to begin April 30 in New Orleans.
