Carrey signs for ghost comedy
By JAM! Movies
The untitled project, which Ross ("Pleasantville") scripted, casts Carrey as a widowed man who is haunted -- literally -- by the ghost of his late wife, after he takes up with a younger woman. "It's a rich, lush romantic comedy about renewal and rebirth, and setting it in New York and getting to shoot it there was important to us, for obvious reasons," Ross told Variety. Ross had been scheduled to adapt author Laura Hillenbrand's non-fiction bestseller "Seabiscuit," about the Depression-era champion racehorse. That project is now on hold until after the Carrey piece, Variety reports. Meanwhile, Carrey will next be seen on screen Dec. 21 in "The Majestic," a Capra-esque tale of a black-listed '50s Hollywood figure, from "Shawshank Redemption" director Frank Darabont. |
