Jim Carrey is still Canadian, eh, and will remain so.

During interviews for his new movie The Majestic, Carrey said he had applied for American citizenship.

The next day at the L.A. premiere of the film, Carrey qualified his remarks.

"I want to be a DUAL citizen. I will never give up my Canadian citizenship.

"Canada is my home and I love it there but I do want to be part of the U.S. as well."

Carrey had said "the U.S. defined me. The U.S. allowed my dreams to come true.

"It will take at least a year for this to become a reality."

Friends star Matthew Perry, who already has dual citizenship, said of Carrey: "Good for Jim. I welcome him into the nation."
