Carrey-Kidman pairing called off
By JAM! Movies
Jim Carrey's upcoming romantic comedy with Nicole Kidman has unexpectedly hit the skids, apparently due to Kidman's busy acting schedule.

Variety reports the untitled project, from "Pleasantville" director Gary Ross, was to cast Carrey as a widower whose attempts to relaunch his romantic life are haunted by the ghost of his ex-wife (played by Kidman).

Universal had hoped to release the movie as its major Christmas picture, but that won't happen now. Variety said no specific reason for the change was cited, but Kidman's dance card is very full these days.

She's currently filming "Dogville" with maverick director Lars Von Trier ("Dancer In The Dark"). Kidman will follow that up with Robert Benton's adaptation of Philip Roth's "The Human Stain," co-starring Anthony Hopkins.

Variety said that rather than recast the movie, it is possible they may reschedule to project for next fall. In the meantime, Carrey is searching for a project to shoot this spring.
