Chan to shoot sequel to unreleased film
'Rush Hour' sequel under wayBased on an idea of Chan's, "Shanghai Noon" is set in the old West and stars Chan and Owen Wilson ("Armageddon," "Bottle Rocket") as an odd couple who set out to rescue a kidnapped princess (Lucy Liu). Producers Spyglass Entertainment and Disney are so confident the movie will be a hit, they've already commissioned screenwriters Miles Millar and Al Gough to work up a sequel. "The 'Shanghai' sequel will be more of a standard period actioner, like 'Raiders Of The Lost Ark', now that the first film establishes Jackie and Owen, and how they mesh together so well," Millar tells Variety. "It'll be more action adventure, and 'The Mummy' showed there is a terrific appetite for period action film," Gough tells Variety. If the "Shanghai Noon" sequel goes ahead, it will mean Chan will be busy following up his own triumphs. He's already earning $15 million to reunite with Chris Tucker for a sequel to "Rush Hour." -- JAM! Movies |
