Director hired for 'Shanghai Noon' sequel

"Clay Pigeons" director David Dobkin has been hired to direct the sequel to the buddy western "Shanghai Noon," Variety reports.

Fresh off his box-office topping sequel "Rush Hour 2," Jackie Chan will re-team with co-star Owen Wilson in "Shanghai Knights."

In "Shanghai Noon," Wilson played a slow-witted cowboy who teamed up with Chan's imperial Chinese guard to rescue a kidnapped princess.

Variety said the sequel will see the duo reconvene in London to thwart a plan designed to overthrow the British and Chinese empires.

"Shanghai Knights" was written by Miles Millar and Al Gough, who also penned the original film, the report said.
