A fake movie project has inspired George Clooney to make a real one.
Variety.com reports that Clooney and production partner Grant Heslov have agreed to co-write "Escape From Tehran," a script based on the real-life CIA rescue of a handful of Americans during the 1979 hostage crisis in Tehran.
The film would follow CIA operative Tony Mendez on his quest to smuggle six US citizens out of the besieged country using a bogus movie production.
Inspired by Joshuah Berman's Wired article of the same name, "Tehran" is the second script Clooney and Heslov have written together (after 2005's "Good Night and Good Luck") and the first under the banner of their production company, Smoke House.
